User confidence is important to us, and therefore, at https://www.gruposoria.es (hereinafter, the ‘Portal’) we care about protecting your privacy. It is important to provide you with as much information as possible about how we use your personal data, including how we use local data storage and related technology.
What does storing local data, cookies and related technology imply?
Local data storage refers to the storing of different types of data locally on your device through your web browser. Locally stored data may include, for example, user settings, information about how you browse our websites, which web browser you use, what ads have been shown, and similar behaviour on websites with which we collaborate. Locally stored data may be used to customise the content and functions of our services so that your visits are smoother and more meaningful. One method of locally storing data is through cookies. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (PC, mobile phone, or tablet) and allow us to recognise your web browser. Cookies contain information mainly about your web browser and any activity that has taken place on it. In addition to local data storage, we may use other related technology, such as web beacons/pixel tags. This technology recognises cookies and identifiers, and allows third parties to set cookies on your device. Web beacons can be used to determine which ads should be displayed on your web browser. In this document, the term ‘local data storage’ is used as a collective term for cookies, web beacons and other related technology.
Why does the Portal use local data storage on its websites and apps?
We use local data storage for a number of purposes, such as: to enable us to provide our services; to provide you with relevant, customised content when you visit our websites; to measure and analyse traffic on our websites; to improve our services; and to target specific ads.
More details on these matters are provided below.
Who else uses local data storage in the Portal?
We use local data storage ourselves and allow our providers to do the same when providing services to us. These providers are subject to data controller agreements and are not allowed to use the data for purposes other than providing the service we have requested. Besides our own use, we also offer third parties the opportunity to use data storage on your device when you visit our services. We have devised strict guidelines on how third parties may collect and use data relating to our visitors. The guidelines state that data may only be used for clearly defined purposes.
Application areas for local data storage:
a) To deliver and adapt services to your use.
Local data storage is required and necessary in order to provide you with our services, including information about your settings, which shows how services should be presented in your web browser. We also use local data storage to tailor our services to your preferred use as much as possible. For example, to store settings for your favourite sounds, to store information about the best video quality available for your web browser and Internet speed, or to allow the use of special features, such as the option to store classified ads or to keep previous searches and listings saved.
b) To analyse and improve our services.
We use different measurement tools that provide us with statistics and analysis related to our services. These tools allow us to recognize the web browser over time and to find out whether the user has visited the website before and how frequently. These tools offer the possibility to have an overview of how many unique users we have and the way in which they use our services. We also use the collected and analysed information to develop and improve our services, including cooperative services, at Schibsted Media Group, for example, by finding out which services generate a lot of traffic or by verifying if a service works optimally.
c) Our advertising.
We use local data storage in connection with the Portal’s advertising activities. This allows us to know whether the user has seen an advertisement or a certain type of advertisement and how frequently, as well as how long ago the user saw it. We also use local data storage to create segments and target groups for marketing purposes and for targeting specific ads.
The following link redirects to educational video tutorials that explain, step by step, how to configure the privacy settings of the most popular browsers, social media platforms, and mobile operating systems:
https://www.agpd.es/portalwebAGPD/CanalDelCiudadano/protegetup rivacidad/index-ides-idphp.php
We also use local data storage in other websites in connection with the Portal’s advertising when the user has visited websites on which we advertise, as well as local data storage set up by other agents. This provides us with information about, for example, which website the user visited before visiting our portals and allows us to target our advertising based on this information. For instance, we may display travel ads if the user has recently visited an airline’s website. The information we obtain through local data storage does not contain directly identifiable data. We receive information about which pages the user visited, but not who the user is.
d) Third-party ads
As on other marketing websites, the user also sees ads by other agents on the Portal services. Most agents use local data storage, which helps to find cookies or anonymous identifiers on your device to see which ads should be displayed or have been displayed on your web browser. Local data storage is also used to measure the effect of ads by calculating how many users clicked on a specific ad and how many actually completed a purchase. We do not allow this data to be linked directly to the user. The Portal has the capacity to read third-party cookies data like this. These companies may use local data storage to target specific ads on other websites based on your visit to the Portal.

How can I manage locally stored data?
You may adjust settings in your web browser or use special programmes that have been developed to manage cookies. The settings in your web browser usually show a list of all the cookies that have been stored to provide you with an overview and, if you wish, to remove unwanted cookies. Generally, you can accept the storage of third-party or website cookies. You can also choose to be notified each time a new cookie is stored. Guidance on how to do this in different web browsers is provided below. Your web browser normally stores cookies in a specific folder on your hard drive, so you can also browse the content in
detail. The Portal has also prepared a list of the main forms of local data storage on our website and details about the purposes. The list is available in the section ‘Overview on the
technology we use’. However, cookies on the website change frequently, and not all of them are equally important. Consequently, the Portal shall regularly update the list of available cookies. In addition, services that have been specially developed to provide users with an updated list of cookies and other monitoring mechanisms are available. See an example here: www.ghostery.com or here: www.disconnect.me
Please, note that disabling cookies from the Portal may prevent our websites from operating properly. For example, you may have to log in each time you visit us, and you may receive random ads instead of those that are more suitable for your searches. Below, there is an overview of how locally stored data may be managed in different web browsers. Please, note that this process may change and the descriptions provided here may not be updated.
